  • State disability benefits

In the United States, there are several states and one commonwealth that provide statutory disability programs, commonly known as "disability insurance". They are funded by mandatory contributions of employees (optionally covered by employers). Employees' contributions are federal tax-deductible. Details differ, depending on the state.

An individual or group of individuals can insure themselves against it through a disability insurance policy, as part of a life insurance package or through worker's compensation insurance.
