DriveNow is a carsharing service wholly owned by the automotive manufacturer BMW. DriveNow service began in Munich, Germany in June 2011. As of October 2017, DriveNow operated over 6,000 vehicles in nine European countries. Apart from five cities in Germany - Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Düsseldorf, and Cologne - DriveNow is available in Vienna, London, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Brussels, Milan, Helsinki and Lisbon. In October 2017, the company reached the milestone of 1,000,000 customers. DriveNow operates a fleet comprising only vehicles manufactured by subsidiaries of BMW Group including various MINI models (convertible, clubman, countryman) as well as BMW X1, X2, i3, 1 series, and 2 series. Created as a joint venture between BMW Group and the car rental company Sixt SE holding 50% of shares each, DriveNow became a wholly owned subsidiary of BMW in March 2018. On January 29, 2018, BMW announced that Sixt SE had agreed to sell its 50% stake for c. €209 million. In April 2018, BMW Group and Daimler AG agreed to combine their mobility services, including their car sharing devices DriveNow and car2go, to shape sustainable urban mobility for the future. A similar BMW service, ReachNow which is offered in North American cities, was established in April 2016 in Seattle, Washington, Portland, Oregon and Brooklyn, New York. In December 2017, ReachNow had over 50,000 members. In contrast to DriveNow, ReachNow's technology platform is provided by RideCell rather than Sixt.
Shelby Bach (born August 28, 1986) is the author of The Ever Afters, a middle-grade book series. Its first installment, Of Giants and Ice, was published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers in July 2012. The sequel, Of Witches and Wind, was released in July 2013. The third book, Of Sorcery and Snow, was released in June, 2014. The fourth and final book in the series, Of Enemies and Endings, was released June 2015. Bach lives in Portland, Oregon, and is a part-time nanny. Shelby Bach grew up reading every book she could find and writing stories in battered notebooks. She rarely came home with a clean shirt and had lots of accidents that ended with hunts for Band-Aids. Nowadays she writes on her laptop rather than in a notebook, but not much else has changed.
ReachNow is a carsharing service operated by BMW Group in Seattle, Washington, Portland, Oregon and Brooklyn, New York. It uses a mobile app for car reservations and operates a fleet of over 1,000 vehicles. It is one of three car sharing services in the city of Seattle, competing with car2go and Zipcar. ReachNow is similar to another BMW Group service DriveNow, but is focused on North American cities starting with Seattle. Unlike DriveNow which is a joint-venture with Sixt, ReachNow is a fully owned BMW subsidiary with RideCell, rather than Sixt, providing the technology platform.
